Strong ESG Focus Gains Thames Prestigious New Contract Sunday 8th October 2023
Thames Cleaning is celebrating the award of the estate cleaning and support services at the very prestigeous Dolphin Square!
The owner of Dolphin Square, one of the most prestigious residential properties in London, has appointed Thames Cleaning to manage the cleaning of the mixed-use areas and the external landscaping of the site. The 5-year contract was awarded following a robust tender process where the company was chosen primarily on its strong ESG emphasis which aligned well with Dolphin Squares’ owners guiding principles and future vision for the property.
Dolphin Square was built in 1936 and is currently undergoing a major restoration programme which will see all areas undergo significant upgrade work. Home to 1,500 residents and set in over 3 acres of landscaped gardens, it is an impressive development that provides residents with an onsite Fitness Club including a swimming pool, squash and tennis courts.
Its restoration involves both restoring and preserving the beautiful art deco architecture of the building while re-engineering it to meet and exceed today’s environmental standards.
Managing Director of Dolphin Square said “Over the next few years, every area of this property will undergo improvement and refurbishment. It is important to us that this is completed sensitively, protecting the character of the place while improving the environmental performance of the buildings. While we have set high environmental targets for the refurbishment, our vision of the restoration programme extends far beyond the physical changes we will make. This is about ensuring everyone in our supply chain shares our vision and can commit to working in the most sustainable manner possible. Thames Cleaning has shown that it is a company entirely aligned with our vision and we are delighted to appoint them to work on this property.”
Thames Cleaning has set itself robust science-based targets and by working with independent experts Planet Mark is on track to become a Net Zero Carbon business by 2035. This will be an impressive achievement and likely a first in the contract cleaning industry.
Alex Weller, Managing Director of Thames Cleaning said “We have always felt passionately about minimising our impact on the environment and we are working hard to introduce better and more sustainable ways of working. We are on the right track by measuring our carbon footprint but that is only one measure, I believe it is also about finding the most practical, innovative and sustainable ways to work and to share those with our clients. Very often new techniques we introduce save us and ultimately our clients, money and time as well as benefit the environment. We are extremely proud to be awarded this contract and we are delighted that our passion for the environment was one of the deciding factors in being successful.”
